Town of Fort Erie considering building a community hub

The Town of Fort Erie has been supporting a feasibility study conducted by the Greater Fort Erie Community Hub Task Force Steering Committee along with McLean Consulting Group.

“Fort Erie is growing and with this growth we are witnessing many opportunities and challenges,” said Mayor Wayne Redekop via a press release. “By considering the need for a community hub, Council will be able to better determine what services, programs and activities could be provided to our residents in a single gathering place and how the Town can support such an initiative.”

McLean Consulting attended the Nov. 19 council meeting to provide council with an overview of what the process of this study would look like.

There is also going to be three focus groups held, allowing residents to have the opportunity to get involved and have their input on what the hub would look like. The town also has set up an online survey at www.gfehub.ca for anyone who wants to have a say in the process.

The focus groups will be held on Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crystal Beach Fire Hall, Dec. 1 at 2:30 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge Library and Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stevensville Memorial Hall.
