Best-selling author Ian Hamilton returns to NOTL Public Library for book launch
Author Ian Hamilton (Submitted)

Best-selling author Ian Hamilton will return to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library on Wednesday for the launch of two new novels.

He is a repeat guest to NOTL, previously appearing as part of the Wine and Words series, also hosted by the library.

Debbie Krause, community development engagement coordinator for the NOTL Public Library, says Hamilton is a favourite of the community. The Goddess of Yantai, the next book in the accredited Ava Lee series is highly anticipated, she says.

He will also be premiering Fate: An Uncle Chow Tung Novel, a prequel to the Ava Lee series.

“He was gracious enough to offer to launch his next two books at the library,” said Krause.

“It’s a great evening. He’s very generous when he talks about his craft and his process. He is an engaging speaker and people love his books; they get to meet the author of the books they absolutely adore.”

Books in Hamilton’s Ava Lee series have made multiple best-seller lists and have been published in seven languages in over 20 countries. BBC Culture named Hamilton one of the top 10 crime, mystery and thriller writers from the past 30 years.

Following Ava Lee, a Chinese-Canadian forensic accountant, the novels recount Lee’s exploits recovering debts through non-traditional means.

Lesley McAllister reviewed The Scottish Banker of Surabay in NOW Magazine: “Hamilton knows how to keep the pages turning. He eases us into the seemingly tame world of white-collar crime, then raises the stakes, bringing the action to its peak with an intensity and violence that’s stomach-churning.”

Hamilton will appear Wed. Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the library rotunda with a reception following the talk.

Tickets can be purchased through the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library.
