St. Catharines wins two marketing awards

The city of St. Catharines has been awarded with two prestigious awards for their marketing of the city.

The city received the Marketing Canada Award for best website from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) for its new tourism website: www.tourismstcatharines.ca, which launched an updated version in the spring.

“Our new website is a vital way for visitors and residents to find useful information to help plan their itinerary while in St. Catharines,” said Karen Doyle, tourism marketing officer for the city.

“After launching the website we quickly saw increases in visitation, page views and time spent on the site.”

She says the new site is easier to navigate.

The city’s grocery brochure also received an award for best single publication over four pages.

The grocery brochure is part of the city’s campaign to attract a grocery store to downtown St. Catharines.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition,” said Brian York, director of economic development and government relations.

“The city’s new tourism website, along with our investment marketing collateral, is leaving a positive impression not only on those planning to visit and invest in the Garden City but our peers who are in the business of marketing their communities.”

The annual Marketing Canada Awards recognize the most effective and innovative promotional campaigns and marketing strategies in the country.

The Marketing Canada Awards were presented at the annual EDAC conference, held in Niagara Falls in September.
