A child pornography investigation started in Utah has led to the arrest of a Thorold man.

In November of 2016, authorities in Farmington, Utah received a complaint through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding suspicious activity between two users on a popular online messaging platform.

As a result, Utah police arrested 55-year-old Nathan Ward and 41-year-old Robert Edwin Francis on child pornography charges.

Utah police continued to investigate the men and related contacts and in December of 2017 contacted the Niagara police for assistance in investigating a Niagara resident connected to the investigation.

Niagara Regional Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.) Unit then began their own investigation which led to a Thorold residence.

A search warrant was executed at the residence on Wednesday and police seized a number of computer systems and storage media which was then forensically examined.

As a result, 37-year-old Marc Seguin was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, and distributing child pornography.

Seguin was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Thursday at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines, Ontario.
