Wintervention to last into March

According to meteorologists with the Weather Network, the warm winter break will last into March for the Niagara Region, with temperatures staying above freezing for most of the next 14 days.

It will, however, be rainy many of those days.

The rain is expected to hold off Thursday but will accompany the higher temperatures on Friday and during the weekend.

Tuesday saw temperatures rise up to 17.9 C during the day, according to climate.weather.gc.ca.

The record daily high for February in Niagara Falls is 19.5 degrees Celsius, which occurred on Feb. 21, 1991. The record low is -21 C (Feb. 12, 1995) and the record wind chill is -34 C (Feb. 7, 1963).
