Pedestrian stuck, killed in Welland

A 65-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Welland Thursday night.

The incident occurred at around 10:15 p.m. on Southworth St. near Morningstar Ave. 

Police said a 2009 Pontiac Vibe, driven by a 22-year-old male, was traveling northbound on Southworth St. when a 65-year-old woman stepped into the path of this car. 

The woman was then struck a second time by a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by a 42-year-old Wainfleet male. 

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries. 

Neither driver suffered any physical injuries.

Police are not releasing the name of the pedestrian out of respect for the family.
