Downed power lines cause blackout in NOTL

Police said strong winds are responsible for downing multiple power lines in Niagara-on-the-Lake Saturday.

Two hyrdro poles were blown partially over on Four Mile Creek Rd. and three were completely blown over on Conc. 6, causing a widespread power outage.

Both roads were closed to traffic Saturday afternoon.

The incidents occurred around 11:30 a.m.

Additional power outages have been reported throughout the region as the result of high wind speeds and freezing rain.

Story in development.
