Falls woman charged in early morning stabbing

A 48-year-old Niagara Falls woman is facing charges following a stabbing that took place around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

Niagara Regional Police said officers were called to a residence in the area of Queen Street and Erie Avenue over reports of a disturbance and upon arrival found a man with an injury “consistent with a stab wound.”

A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the woman, who is charged with the alleged offence of aggravated assault.

The woman was held in police custody pending a bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines Tuesday morning.

Police said the matter is being investigated as a domestic occurrence, and therefore aren't releasing the name of the accused in the interest of protecting the victim's identity.
