Human remains found in the Welland Canal have been identified as 18-year-old Quintin Bingley of St. Catharines.
The remains were found in January between Lock 1 and Lock 2, after police and a marine unit drained a portion of the canal in a search for Bingley. The teen had been missing since May 2018.
On Feb. 22, after examination of the remains, the coroner's office notified police the remains belonged to Bingley.
Foul play is not suspected, according to a police press release.
The Bingley family has asked for privacy at this time.
