The hugely popular Virgil Stampede will return to the Virgil Sports Park on May 18 to 20.

The Stampede has grown since its humble beginnings as a neighbourhood fireworks display. In 1965, the open horse show was added, and it grew to include amusement rides in 1968.

Horse shows have been removed from the roster in recent years, but pony rides, food vendors and attractions continue to mark the beginning of summer.

Admission is $5 per person Saturday and Monday. Admission is free for children under 10 all weekend, and Sunday offers free admission for everyone all day.

Gates will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday.
