The Queenston Volunteer Firefighter Association has donated $500 to the NOTL safety committee.
The association has given money to a variety of organizations and charities over the years. This time, the safety committee was chosen by Louis Prue, the spaghetti dinner’s chair, for two reasons.
“It was one organization we have not given donations to in the past and also because our longest-serving association member, Jake Redikop, is a longtime member of that organization,” said Rob Copeland, president of the Queenston Volunteer Firefighter Association.
The bi-annual spaghetti dinner had the best turnout ever, Copeland said. Around 285 people supported the event, which took place earlier in May.
“Between the dinner and the placemat advertising, the association made a good amount of money that we are now giving back to this and other organizations within our municipality,” Copeland said.
