Salute the sun on Monday mornings for gentle yoga at the museum starting July 8.

The NOTL Historical Society and Museum is pairing up with Sacred Fern Yoga to bring early morning yoga classes to the museum’s courtyard.

For $15, beginners and experienced yogis can take part in the gentle Hatha yoga class, which will take place on select Mondays throughout the summer. A series pass for all five classes can also be purchased for $50. Space is limited and available on a first come first serve basis, so it is suggested participants arrive early. Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and participants should bring a yoga mat and water.

Sonya Maries de Lazzer, owner of Sacred Fern Yoga and registered yoga teacher, said the series will be a gentle morning practice focusing on opening the body with easy stretching and a slow flow of poses “to help begin and set the day in motion.”

De Lazzer offers both private and group yoga classes in various locations.

“I’m a mobile yogi, if you will,” she said. “Yoga has been a big part of my life. I find it enjoyable and relaxing; helping me navigate the stresses of life.”

She said through the museum, she’s hoping to bring that love of yoga to more people for a gentle, early morning practice.

Classes will be offered Monday mornings on July 8, July 22, July 29 and Aug. 19 and 26.
