Man, 33, facing attempted murder charge following Falls stabbing

A 33-year-old manĀ is facing a charge of attempted murder following a stabbing early Sunday morning in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Regional Police said in a media release that officers were called to a coffee shop in the area of Murray Street and Stanley Avenue at aboutĀ 5 a.m. on Sunday.

InvestigationĀ revealed the suspect allegedly stabbed a 35-year-old male before fleeing on foot. The suspectĀ was arrested a short distance later by police.

The victim was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.Ā 

Alex McNaughton of no fixed address is facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon, aggravated assault, possessions of weapons for a dangerous purpose and attempted muder.

McNaughton was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Monday, Dec. 16, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse inĀ St. Catharines.
