SUV crashes into Old Town bank

A 33-year-old Niagara-on-the-Lake man crashed his Chevrolet Tahoe into the entrance of the Royal Bank of Canada on Mary Street on Sunday.

The incident took place at about 7:20 a.m., little more than four months after an 86-year-old woman did the same thing, causing about $20,000 in damages.

Sunday's crash was a result of “human error” and caused in excess of $10,000 to the bank and another $1,000 to the SUV, police said in response to questions from The Lake Report.

No charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act, as the crash happened on private property, police said.

The driver was alone when the crash happened and no one was injured.
