Woman, 44, charged with stabbing

A 44-year-old woman was arrested Saturday night after allegedly stabbing a man at a residence in St. Catharines.

The man was air-lifted to an out-of-town hospital and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they responded to reports of an injured male at a residence in the area of Ernest St. and Cecil St. around 11:40 p.m. 

Emergency crews found the injured man when they arrived.

Police investigation determined the injury was caused during an altercation.

The matter is being investigated as a domestic disturbance and the Ernest St. residence is being maintained by police.

Police did not release the name of the accused in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim.

The woman was arrested at the scene and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
